Student Transfer Information
Medina Valley ISD Board of Trustees approved and implemented new transfer regulations under MVISD School Board Policy FDB (LOCAL) for Intradistrict transfers.
The current FDB (LOCAL) policy states:
All students must attend the school in the attendance area in which the parent/guardian resides, unless a transfer is granted.

INTRADISTRICT TRANSFER
- Intradistrict transfers are governed by policy FDB and any supporting regulations. Students and parents must submit an application to apply for consideration which district staff review and determine whether the request is granted. Annual renewals are required and students are reviewed to determine if established criteria are met to remain an intradistrict transfer.
FIRST OPPORTUNITY
First opportunity is defined by the UIL as meeting one of the following:
- The student is new to the district and it is the first opportunity for the student to apply for an intradistrict transfer – they have not attended another school in the district.
- The student is a current 8th grader and will be moving attendance the next year to a district high school.
- The district is opening a new comprehensive high school and it is the first opportunity for students to enroll (this is a one-year limitation).
TRANSFER RENEWALS
- Student on a current year approved transfer in good standing.
- Reviewed to determine if established criteria are met to remain an intradistrict transfer.

Local policy has been revised in accordance with the District's Innovation Plan:
Medina Valley ISD limits non-resident transfer students to those students who are children of employees or those students who were approved transfers prior to January 2016. As per TEC §25.036, the district reviews transfer eligibility of current transfer students at the end of each semester. If a student has not met the district expectations for attendance and discipline the transfer is revoked at that time.
Our District of Innovation allows the District the flexibility to deny the transfer of a peace officer/parent (TEC §25.0344) due to the fast growth of the district. Board policy gives the authority to the Superintendent to approve, deny, or revoke transfers.
Our District of Innovation allows the District the flexibility to deny the transfer of a service member/parent (TEC §25.0344) due to the fast growth of the district. Board policy gives the authority to the Superintendent to approve, deny, or revoke transfers.
