Principal Elisa McCracken The new Medina Valley H.S. principal tells us how she got involved in education and what she's looking forward to most this school year. Show Transcript oh no so my mom was a teacher taught first grade and I swore I would never be a teacher because I saw how hard it was it's all the work that she did as an elementary school teacher I studied genetics when I went to ANM and plan to work in the lab that's incredibly boring after you do it for a while and realized that my heart was really in making a difference but making a difference with kids so I taught for the first year under emergency certification in a little district and Louise Texas as a 1A school so I had 6 through 12 science and some math thrown in there the student council sponsor the National Honor Society sponsor ran the concession stand at the football games all the things in the first year um but that's that's where I knew uh my heart was education in my opinion is the great equalizer it's what what can make a difference for anyone at any time and I'm very passionate about making sure kids get what they need and when they need it where they need it because sets up our community for Success so that's our students up for Success creates happy families happy happy people stepping into this community is like the best possible scenario because the structures the Traditions the culture here is already so positively and well-established I've got a lot of great systems and supports that are are already here that I just get to be part of as as we start this year really am excited about the students coming back to the building and the teachers coming back to the building they are the why they are the reason that we're here and so to have them back in the building and our our teachers back in the building are what I'm most excited about Print
