(MEDINA VALLEY ISD — May 5, 2023) — For Brittany Traugh, offering students nutritious meals makes her day.

She loves hearing students say her food tastes good and enjoys seeing them light up at the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls.

Traugh, who is a Loma Alta cafeteria manager, along with about 50 child nutrition workers joined at Medina Valley ISD to celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 5. The workers, who dedicate themselves to serving students, were served a fajita lunch and were showered with appreciation for their hard work and commitment.“This is wonderful,” Taugh said. “This is showing … that people do care about you.”

Director of Child Nutrition Tiffany Eckenrod said child nutrition workers make a great impact in the lives of students at MVISD.

“They help guarantee kids are healthy, ready to learn and provide a constant in these challenging times,” Eckenrod said. “Their love and dedication for what they do and for those they serve is noteworthy and extraordinary. Our gratitude cannot be overstated.”
