Academic UIL

Medina Valley ISD schools participate in various academic competitions through the University Interscholastic League Curriculum (UIL) run by The University of Texas at Austin. These events inspire students to think critically and creatively in a friendly competitive environment. Teachers at each campus facilitate the events after school and encourage all students to participate. Each school then determines their top competitors to move on the official UIL competitions. The elementary and secondary levels have coordinators to plan, organize, and facilitate the process.

At the elementary level, all competitions are within MVISD as the top students from each elementary school come together in a district-wide competition. In addition to individual event awards, there is a school trophy which is awarded to the elementary school that wins the most events. The district elementary competitions occur in February each year.

Students participating in the secondary school events compete against area schools. Some high school events lead to regional and state level competitions. Secondary events occur throughout the Spring.
