Federal Programs Receives $4,500 Grant from Walmart
Medina Valley ISD today announced the receipt of a grant in the amount of $4,500 from the Walmart store located in Castroville, Tx.
Manuel Guardado, store manager for the Walmart in Castroville, Tx presented a check for the full amount in person to representatives from Medina Valley ISD on Tuesday, January 14.
The grant was applied for by the MVISD Federal Programs Department and Truancy Officer Mr. Joe Romo in October of 2019. Federal Programs was notified of the award in January.
The selection was made by the Walmart home office which evaluates grant submissions based on the type of assistance requested, the requester and the category the assistance falls under.
“Our department is excited to be able to help so many families in the district that truly needed it,” said Gabriel Cary, Federal Programs director, on receiving the grant. Cary explained the grant would be put towards assistance programs the district currently offers to families who have a need.
