The Panthers opened up district play against the state-ranked Boerne Champion Chargers last Friday in Boerne. The Panthers came out strong, holding Boerne to three and out on their first series, and then taking the first drive in to score when Bobby Peterson caught a 25-yard pass from Nick Rash. Dyland Leal added the extra point to give Medina Valley a 7-0 lead. The Panther defense was stifling all night, but the offense was unable to find the success that they had on the first drive, and Champion began to chip away at the lead, going into halftime leading the Panthers 14-7. The Panthers showed grit and fought hard the entire night, but two more Boerne touchdowns in the 4th quarter put the game out of reach, 27-7. Medina Valley will travel to Comalander Stadium this Thursday and look to rebound as they take on the Alamo Heights Mules in their second district contest of the year. The game will begin at 7 pm.
