MVMS Football V Boerne North
8th grade- The MV Panthers took the field Wednesday night September 9th and competed with a very strong Boerne North team. The Panthers were bitten by the turnover bug, and have had some costly injuries along the way before the first game. Low on numbers the 8th grade boys fought a good fight last night but unfortunately came up short, losing their opening game 6 - 44 against Boerne North. Highlights of the evening included impressive special teams play and Gonzalo Doria scoring the only touchdown for the panthers on a 60 yard run. The Panthers take on Boerne Voss Tuesday night in Boerne.
7th grade White- The 7th grade Panthers white team came out of the gates blazing on all cylinders against the Boerne North Wednesday night. Sammy Garcia as the General at quarterback was poised in the game opener which was led by the two headed monster in the backfield of Reese Hatcher and Connor Haby who accounted for over 250 yards of rushing for the night with lead blocks from Josue Quintero. The offensive line who led the way was Jake Holzhaus, Johnny Guzman, Sebastian Trejo, Noah Soto, Sean Minga, Giovanni Stanton, along with Angel Elizondo, and Jayden Perez. They held on their own and did a good job of opening holes for our running backs. The punishing defense led by Sean Minga who had 4 tackles for loss, held the Greyhounds to less than 75 yards rushing in the evening. Zane Shadrock had an interception, along with some caused fumbles by Jake Holzhaus and Kaden Jordan. The Panthers will play host to Boerne Voss Tuesday night at 5.
7th grade Orange- The 7th grade Panthers orange played iron man football with only 13 players. With most players going both ways and special teams, the Panthers put up a good fight but came up short in the end losing 18-0 to a good Boerne North team. The offense took some time to get the ball moving in the first half led by the rushing of Tommy Driscoll who had 65 yards rushing on the night. The offensive line anchored in the middle by Lane Solis along with Trip Robbins, Steven Montes, Jagger Niemietz, Beau Weimers and Vallan De La Fuente had the tough task of keeping the Greyhounds out of the backfield. A couple of drives were halted by timely penalties that set the Panthers back but the determined group of young men led by Logen Pargas, Connor Crisp, Jake Phillips, and Chas Boehme put up a fight in the second half but just ran out of time. The defense led by Beau Weimers upfront played well for most of the night. Key contributors on defense were Kyle Livingston, Jake Phillips, Joseph Haby and Logen Pargas. The Panthers tired and gassed finished the night strong with a promising drive as the clock hit zero led by Connor Crisp who broke off two long runs before being brought down. The coaching is proud of the effort that all these young men have put and look for great things down the road. 7th grade will play host to Boerne Voss Tuesday September 15, at 6:30. GO MV!
