Girls Basketball Tournament Results
The varsity girls basketball team competed in the Harlandale Tournament this weekend finishing with an overall record of 5-1. On Thursday the Panthers took on Eagle Pass dominating by a score of 71-25. The Panthers followed that up with another great performance beating Kennedy 70-34. On Friday the Panthers would square off against their toughest opponent of the weekend losing to Roosevelt by a score of 25-41. The Panthers finished the day winning a hard-fought battle against Lanier by a score of 50-49. On Saturday the girls competed in the Silver bracket beating McCollum in the Semifinals 50-43. In the Championship the girls played their best game of the season defeating Harlandale 55-40 to win the Silver Bracket Championship. Paityn Kinnett and Addie Guinther were selected to the All-Tournament team for their performance. The girls will be back at home on Tuesday to take on La Vernia.
The JV Girls Basketball team journeyed to Fredericksburg this weekend to participate in a three-game tournament and came back with three big wins. In the first game, the Panthers took on Canyon Lake, got the win and ended with a final score of 33-18. Leading scorers were Madison Sotelo scoring 7 points, while Jaya Cosper and Kylie Mutz each scored 6. In the following game, the girls took on the Queens from Del Rio, ending with a score of 51-33. Leading scorer for the game was Kylie Mutz, dominating the boards with a high tally of 16 points. Also scoring big was Morgan Henrich with 10 and Madison Sotelo with 8. In the last game for the day, the Panthers took on the hosting team, Fredericksburg. The girls dominated the Billies in a total team effort. They took the lead early and never looked back, ending with a final score of 41-20. Leading scorers for the game were Madison Sotelo with 9, Aleza Palomarez and Kylie Mutz with 7 and Hailey Franke and Morgan Henrich each with 6. The girls will take on LaVernia tomorrow night at home starting at 5 followed by the Varsity at 6:30. Make sure to come out and support your Panthers!
The Freshmen Girls Basketball team traveled to Fredericksburg this past Saturday to compete in the Fredericksburg Tournament. The girls defeated all three teams they played. The first game against Del Rio was a tough battle until the end as the Panthers won with 22 seconds left with a score of 37-35. Kellie Harlow led the Panthers with 18 points and Paiten Trowbridge with 10 points, Gabriela Ortiz 4 points, Iliana Garcia and Daniela Guevara 2 points, and Sarah Dailey 1 point. In their second game, the Panthers crushed Canyon Lake with a score of 55-25. Once again Harlow dominated under the basket with 20 points, Iliana Garcias with 11 points, Paiten Trowbridge 9 points and Sarah Dailey 8 points, Gracie Northcut 4 points, Daniela Guevara 2 points and Payton Keller 1 point. In their third game of the day, the Panthers played a tough game against Fredericksburg. Down at half time by three points, the Panthers played aggressively the second half to pull the lead defeating Fredericksburg 37-30. Kellie Harlow scored 11 points, followed by Gracie Northcut with 5 points, Iliana Garcia, Payton Keller, Paiten Trowbridge, and Sarah Dailey 4 points, Julia Guzman 3 points and Daniela Guevara 2 points. Great job Panthers! Next up is a home game Tuesday against LaVernia.
