  • Welcome, my name is Mrs. Romo, your child's second grade teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.  Because you are entrusting me with your child 35 hours a week, I think you should know a little something about me.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary education from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. (now Texas State University)  I began my career teaching first grade at Margil Elementary (San Antonio I.S. D.) for four years.  Next, I taught first grade at Elrod Elementary (Northside I.S.D.) for three years before joining the wonderful staff at Medina Valley.  This will be my twenty- fourth year teaching and my eighth year teaching 2nd grade.  I have three beautiful children: ( a twenty-two year old daughter Baleigh, who is a senior at A&M San Antonio and is majoring in education and is currently student teaching;  a twenty year old son Blaik, who is a junior at Texas State; and an eighteen year old son who is a senior at Medina Valley High School.

Second grade is an exciting year for students because they will be continuing to build the foundation of their education and become more independent learners.   Since your children will be at different developmental levels, I will be testing them throughout the year to establish their individual reading and math levels so that so that their needs will be met.  I will be placing your child in appropriate groups.

I can be reached at the Potranco Elementary School during my conference period between 1:15-1:50 pm. or after school from 3:15 - 4:00 MTW @ (830)931-2243 ext. 2000 or I can be reached on my cell phone at (210)310-5723. I can also be reached via e-mail at tammy.romo@mvisd.org. Please call or write me at any time if you have a question or concern.

Parents are the most important people in their child's life.  You and I working together will ensure your child's success in the classroom.  I will need your full support in the areas of academics, homework, and discipline.  In return, you can expect me to keep you informed on your child's school experiences.  With school and home working together, I am confident that we will all have a successful year.

    Mrs. Tammy Romo
