• Welcome to MVMS!

I am entering my sixth year of teaching, all of it here at MVMS. I am a special education teacher and case manager most of the day, but I also teach Future Problem Solving second and eighth periods.

There aren't many phones here, so it's best to contact me using email (julie.myers@mvisd.org). My conference period is seventh period (1:13-2:02). I usually can return messages within 24 hours. Please use email and not the messaging system offered through Skyward because the latter does not notify me that I have a message.

    A little about me...

I have a bachelor's degree in journalism (Texas A&M, 1991), which enabled me to be a newspaper journalist for about 20 years until 2011 when I obtained my teacher certification from UTSA. I live in Castroville with Reagon, my husband of 25 years who teaches at Lytle Junior High, and two kids: Luke, 16, and Molly, 13. They both attend MVISD schools.

I was inspired in high school to be a journalist because of my journalism teacher. She inspires me still now that I'm a teacher. Later, it was the teachers I met as a journalist on my favorite beat (education!) who inspired my career switch. At some point, journalism seemed too passive and I wanted to do what THEY were doing. I hope to inspire your child like I have been and continue to be inspired by my students, their parents and my colleagues here at MVISD. I am so excited our children get to attend these schools, and I am privileged to teach them.

Please let me know how I may help your child do better in my class or in school or to help you to help your child.
