At the Tuesday, January 19, 2021, School Board Meeting Dr. Rohrbach gave his annual State of the District presentation. The report contains important information about milestones the district reached in 2020 and includes goals for 2021.
Welcome, from Dr. Kenneth Rohrbach
Welcome to Medina Valley ISD, an outstanding school district that is a top choice for educational excellence in the San Antonio area. Located on the west side of San Antonio the district encompasses 296 square miles located in Medina County and Bexar County. With approximately 6,100 students on seven campuses, Medina Valley ISD is one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas. The District enjoys tremendous success academically and in extracurricular activities. A fifth elementary campus, currently under construction, is scheduled to open for the 2021-2022 school year. A sixth elementary school has been authorized by voters and will soon follow. Building on a strong tradition of academic and co-curricular excellence, MV consistently places in UIL academic and sport competitions. Medina Valley ISD has received an “A” rating from the Texas Education Agency for each of the last two years, and has received the “Post-Secondary Readiness Distinction Designation for each of the last three years. For the 18-19 school year, MV was the only traditional public-school district in Region 20 to earn both an A rating and the Post-Secondary Readiness designation. MVISD offers a full array of curriculum offerings including Pre-AP, AP, Dual Credit Courses, and Career and Technical Education Courses. In addition, Medina Valley offers effective programs for special populations including programs for Bilingual, At-Risk, and Gifted Learners. The District has earned 18 consecutive “Superior Achievement” designations on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, evidence of sound financial practices and wise use of taxpayer dollars. MV seeks to recruit and retain certified, qualified and highly effective personnel to enhance the services available to students, parents and the community.
On a personal note, I began working for the District on January 4, 2016, having previously served for 5 ½ years as superintendent of Three Rivers ISD. Prior to that, I was Three Rivers High School principal for 10 years and began my teaching career in Dell City, teaching and being an administrator there for 9 years. I am a D’Hanis native and am very happy to be back in the area in which I was raised. It is truly an honor to work in this outstanding school district.
We welcome you as a student, district team member or volunteer. The future is exciting as MV reaches to become the Premier District in South Texas.
