Here at Medina Valley, the number of students that we serve is growing at a rapid pace. We are the fastest-growing school district in our Region, with a 14% growth rate last school year. That exponential growth rate also places us amongst the fastest-growing school districts in the State. Over the last year, we have added more than 1,000 students, which is unprecedented growth for MVISD.
The District works closely with a Demographer who helps to track, monitor, and project the growth in our area. When comparing the anticipated growth with the capacity of our current buildings, MVISD will need additional campuses to be able to accommodate all of our current and future students. The process for school districts to acquire the funding needed to build additional campuses is through a bond election. Medina Valley ISD has a Community Bond Advisory Committee composed of 30+ community members that are meeting regularly throughout the next few months to put together a bond proposal to present to the school board. To help all parents and staff stay up to date on the information shared, following each meeting the District emails a short summary and posts the presentations on this webpage.
As a part of the bond that was approved in 2019, construction on Elementary #6 has begun in the Silos subdivision off of Highway 90 and 211. This is the final project that was approved in that previous bond package, and it is scheduled to open in Fall 2024.
