Bilingual & ESL
Purpose:
Every student who has a home language other than English and who is identified as limited English proficient, shall be provided a full opportunity to participate in a bilingual education or English as a Second Language program, as required by the Texas Education Code, Chapter 89, Subchapter B.

Understanding and valuing our students’ linguistic and cultural backgrounds that they bring to us will foster strong relationships leading to successful engagement within the learning environment.
Missions:
MVISD Bilingual Transitional Early Exit Program - In PreK - 5th grades, we will teach the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills hand in hand with the English Language Proficiency Standards using the child’s primary language to promote academic excellence along with the supports needed for EL student success across all contents.
MVISD English as a Second Language Pull-out Program (ESL) - In 6th - 12th grades, we will teach the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills hand in hand with the English Language Proficiency Standards using intensive instruction in English, sheltered instructional activities, and supports needed for EL student success within their English/Language Arts/Reading class.
