It was a marvelous and merry Monday for MVISD on December 2, 2019.
For the first time in Panther history, the Federal Programs Department partnered with the San Antonio Food Bank. Any families in need were invited to partake in a free food distribution. Food bundles were available on a first-come, first-served basis and distributed in a drive-thru format. Over a hundred bundles were distributed to participating families within a two hour period. Food bundles consisted of items such as vacuum-sealed pork loins, beans, chips, fruits, and vegetables, water, and orange juice. Keep an eye out for updates from the Federal Programs Department regarding other events in the future!
2018 -2019 Federal Programs Summer Read-a-Long Program
The Federal Programs Department implemented its First Annual MVISD Summer Read-a-Long Program. Parents and students were presented with a backpack consisting of reading materials, activity workbooks, parent guides, and reading logs. The assignment started on June 7th and ended August 15th, 2019. Students that completed and submitted their reading logs were entered into a raffle with a chance to win a bike. On September 5, 2019, the bike was presented to the lucky winner by Federal Programs Director, Gabriel Cary.
