For the 2019-2020 school year the Texas Education Agency has implemented streamlined social studies standards in grade sixth through twelve. The new standards can be accessed here. Middle School course sequencing:
6th Grade Social Studies (Honors option available)
7th Grade Texas History (Honors option available)
8th Grade American History (Honors option available)
High School course sequencing:
9th Grade--World Geography or AP Human Geography
10th Grade--World History or AP World History
11th Grade--US History or US History Dual Credit
12th Grade--US Government or US Government Dual Credit (college entrance required)
12th Grade--Economics or Economics Dual Credit (college entrance required)
Social studies elective courses such as psychology, sociology, personal financial literacy and special topics in social studies are also available.
