Purpose

  • The Medina Valley Independent School District’s Math Accelerated Program (MAP) begins in 6th grade. The purpose of the program is to target students who excel in mathematics and aspire to complete higher levels of mathematics while still in high school. These include advanced placement Calculus, Calculus AB, and Calculus BC.

Plan

  • Students who meet the criteria as incoming 6th graders will complete 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematics courses during their 6th and 7th grade years. They will then take Algebra I their 8th grade year. This will allow them to take four years of mathematics at the high school level, beginning with Algebra II in 9th grade.

  • To remain in the Mathematics Accelerated Program (MAP):

Students must have MASTERED the STAAR test in their current grade level. Students must maintain a passing grade each semester or be referred  to the RTI campus committee.
