Vocational Industrial Clubs of America:
BUILDING TRADES
The VICA Club at Medina Valley High, is an organization of highly motivated students
with a flair for creating projects out of wood..
Students have competed at three district and two state meets.
Of the fifteen students that have competed at the district level,
students have won fourteen First places and one Second place. At the
state level, all ten students have placed first.
Besides working on projects for competition, students in the VICA
club have done numerous projects for the school and community. Whether
building a storage shed for the football team, shelves for a teacher's
classroom, or building a cabinet for band --the students in the club
are always ready to help. Even the city of Castroville has benefited
from the expertise of the students in V.I.C.A. Last year the Club
built picnic tables for the American Legion. The Club is presently
building picnic tables for Regency Park at the request of the city.
Whether building storage shed, functional furniture for a home, or
an outdoor slider swing, VICA students are also building and developing
valuable skills that will be theirs for the rest of their lives.
