Fifth Annual Cornfield Classic Model Rocket
Tournament and Color Guard Competition

The MVHS Rocket Team played host to the AFJROTC units from ten other high schools on October 13 at the track field while the schools' Color Guards competed on the band pad. Senior Aerospace Science Instructor Col. Glenn Larsen(USAF Ret) announced the rocket meet and members of the MVHS Rocket Team served as hosts, judges, and coordinators. The winners of the Model Rocket Tournament were: For altitude: first, Pearsall; second, John Jay; third, Jersey Village. For Parachute Duration: first, Klein Collins; second, Clark; third, Cypress Ridge. For Streamer Duration: first, Cypress Ridge; second, Klein Collins; third, Pearsall. For thirty meter spot landing: first, Klein Collins; second, Judson; third, Clark. For sixty meter spot landing: first, Klein Collins; second, Taft; third, Clark. For 100 meter spot landing: first Jersey Village; second, Klein Collins; third, Warren. For Best Rocket Design: Cypress Ridge. For Exhibition: first, Klein Collins; second, Cypress Ridge; third, Taft. For Mosquito Drag Race: first, Lee; second, Judson; third, all scratched. Overall Championship: Klein Collins; first runer-up, Cypress Ridge; second runner-up, Clark. The Color Guards were judged on the basis of the Army, Air Force and Marine Drill Manual. The judges were Tech Sergeant Aldino Williams, Staff Sergeant Rodney Gray, Tech Sergeant Lovea Anderson, and Staff Sergeant Charles Tate. The winning Color Guards were: Women: Warren; Men: Warren; Mixed: Tivy. The TX-20009th would like to thank the Alamo Rocketeers for judging each of the events.
