Meet the Superintendent

James Stansberry, Superintendent

Mr. James Stansberry was named Superintendent of Schools of the Medina Valley Independent School District May 2007. Mr. Stansberry’s career in Texas public education began as a teacher at Huntington ISD, with a firm belief that education is the key to a student’s future success.

Mr. Stansberry has embraced the idea that it is the primary responsibility of the professional educator to reach every child. He believes that it is “one teacher teaching one student at a time that enables our students to be successful.”

Prior to his superintendency at Medina Valley ISD, Mr. Stansberry led the Dawson Independent School District as superintendent for three years and served as the superintendent for George West Independent School District for another three years. Mr. Stansberry has a breadth of educational experiences ranging from a classroom history teacher to middle school principal and school superintendent.

Mr. Stansberry is recognized for educational leadership. His goal is to build partnerships between the district, parents, local governments, local universities and college, chambers of commerce and businesses. It is his goal to promote educational excellence across the state and he is committed to providing instructional programs that will assist all students to be productive citizens for Texas and our nation.
