The District Wide Advisory Committee ( DWAC ) is an advisory board to the superintendent. The committee assists the superintendent to establish and review the District's educational goals (District Goals) (Graduate Profile) , objectives (District Improvement Plan) , and major District wide classroom instructional programs . The committee also approves staff development of a District wide nature.
The Superintendent ensures that the DWAC obtains broad-based community, parent, and staff input and provides information to them on a regular basis. Some of this is disseminated through public school board meeting presentations ( State of our Schools ) and through monthly DWAC minutes.
The committee is composed of members such as professional staff, parents, businesses, and the community. At least two-thirds of the professional staff are classroom teachers. The committee includes four parents of students currently enrolled within the District; two community members that reside in the District; and, two business people who may or may not reside in nor operate businesses in the District. Additional members sometimes include students, paraprofessionals, and members of other committees.
The committee typically meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the high school 's Media Center at 4:15 PM . |
