About MVISD
Medina Valley ISD (MVISD) is located off of FM 471 S, along the
historic Medina River and U.S. Highway 90, fifteen miles west of San
Antonio in Medina County. It is an area that is rich in German,
French, and Spanish Heritage with many structures dating from the
1850's.
The district was formed in 1959 by the consolidation of the schools
in Castroville and LaCoste. The boundaries of Medina Valley ISD
extend north to the Medina Lake area, south to Lytle and Natalia,
west toward Hondo, and east to San Antonio.

classroom teachers, exemplary schools, and programs that support student
achievement.
Both Castroville and LaCoste, the major towns, offer the convenience of
a small rural town with the availability of major shopping only a short
drive away.
The area is experiencing increased growth due to its proximity to a
large population center. Numerous subdivisions have recently emerged as
a result of the growth, providing housing to individuals looking for
stable lifestyles. The citizens of Medina County play a very active role
in the community and promote educational initiatives, civic betterment,
and new business development.
